Alte Liebe
German harbour tugboat from 1931
For almost thirty years until 1960, the Cuxhaven reed steamer "Alte Liebe" was an everyday sight in the harbour. Under steam around the clock, she was used as a pilot transfer boat, for daily harbour service as a tug, for assistance in emergencies, as a fire-fighting boat and salvage vessel. Her triple-expansion steam engine produced 360 hp, the crew consisted of 1 captain, 1 engineer, 3 stokers and 6 sailors.
The model was reconstructed from original drawings and historic photos of interior fittings with the help of former crew members. The completely removable superstructure of the Alte Liebe is so wide that access to the interior of the hull is very easy. The installation of a steam engine in the large-volume hull is completely unproblematic. The kit is richly equipped. A splendid GRP hull with all details, deck punched from plywood, ship's shaft Fineline M4 , plus a set of fittings with all imaginable details made of cast metal. Even the parts for the interior of the bridge are included in the kit. Construction plan and German building instructions complete this worth seeing kit.
