Greek bireme 6th century BC.
This wooden kit creates a model of a Greek bireme from the 6th century BC. The crew consisted of 10 soldiers and 50 rowers who sat in two rows on each side, always one above the other. In the event of a fight, the rowers left the rowing benches and fought with shields and swords. The ramming spur at the bow of the ship was used to ram and sink enemy ships. The bireme was steered with two oars at the stern. Longer distances could be covered under sail. In battle, the oars were the most important propulsion. During a battle, the mast was laid down on the stern.
The kit contains all wooden parts laser-cut and all materials needed to build the detailed model. A building plan and instructions with detailed sketches are also included.
Glue and paint are also required.
