Viking Longship

Viking warship - around 1100 AD.

This model represents a comparable longship found near the village of Skuldelev in Denmark, known as Skuldelev 2. The original was built mainly of oak in Dublin around the year 1060. The boat was 30 metres long and 3.8 metres wide and could carry 60 to 100 Viking fighting men. It was propelled by a single huge rectangular sail or by 60 oars.

Kit contents:
The construction is based on a laser-cut keel, frames and planks. All wooden parts, the sailcloth, rigging twine and the round shields are included in the kit, as well as a small stand. The kit is rounded off by a detailed construction plan with illustrated building instructions.
