Knarr Viking Ship
The Knarr is a type of Viking ship that was used for long trading operations
at sea. The Knarrs were very robust and withstood adverse conditions on the open
sea very well. This model represents the similar Knarr found near the village of
Skuldelev in Denmark, known as Skuldelev 1. The original was built in Norway
between the years 1030 and 1050 mainly from oak and pine. The length of the ship
was about 16.3 m and the displacement about 24 tons.
