La Real Galley
La Real was the flagship of Don Juan de Austria in the naval battle of
Lepanto, the largest galley battle in history. In the naval battle of Lepanto,
which took place on 7 October 1571 in the Ionian Sea, the fleet of the Christian
Mediterranean powers, the Holy League, defeated the fleet of the Ottoman Empire
led by Admiral Ali Pasha.
In 1971, a faithful model of the La Real was reproduced and has since been on
display in the Museu Marítim in Barcelona.
The kit is constructed with very accurate laser plywood parts. The hull is planked with 2 layers of battens. Selected precious wood strips, many fittings and ornaments made of cast resin, boat stands and of course German building instructions, as well as 5 building plans complete the kit.
