Golden Hind
The Golden Hind was a ship owned by Sir Francis Drake during his circumnavigation of the world between 1577 and 1580. There are no records of the original ship. It is estimated that the ship was about 25 metres long and had a displacement of 120 tons. It was equipped with 18 cannons of various calibres. This model was reconstructed mainly from the illustrations of the Golden Hind on Hondius' world map of 1595.
The kit is constructed with very accurate laser plywood parts. The hull is planked with one layer of 2 mm battens. Because of the numerous fender strips, double planking was not used. All fittings, sailcloth, boat stands and of course detailed building instructions and plans are included in the kit.
