Soleil Royal Static Model Kit 1:87 – Limited Edition of 669 Units
Historical Background of the Soleil Royal
The Soleil Royal was a French ship of the line from the 17th century and served as the flagship of the royal navy under Louis XIV. It was launched in 1669 in Brest and was considered one of the most magnificent warships of its time.
Measuring approximately 72 meters in length and armed with over 100 cannons, it was not only a military powerhouse but also a symbol of royal authority. Its intricately carved stern gallery and richly decorated rigging made it a floating palace.
Under Admiral Tourville, the Soleil Royal participated in several major naval battles, including the Battle of Barfleur in 1692. After this battle, it was heavily damaged and later burned by attacking English forces in Cherbourg.
Today, the legend of the Soleil Royal lives on in high-quality model kits – a tribute to maritime craftsmanship and the legacy of French naval history.
