Gokstad

The model represents a ship from the time of the Vikings. The model of this ship was discovered in 1880 near Gokstad in Norway. The ship had been built in the second half of the ninth century. The excellent nautical skills of this ship were proven in 1893 when Magnus Anderson crossed the Atlantic from Norway to the USA with a replica of the ship.
The ship was about 24 m long and 5.20 m wide. The keel and planking were made of oak. The hull was built from a total of 32 planks using the clinker method (individual planks overlapping each other). The boat was rowed with 32 oars and had a rectangular sail

Kit contents:
The construction is based on a laser-cut keel, frames and planks. All wooden parts, the sailcloth, rigging twine and the round shields are included in the kit, as well as a small stand. The kit is rounded off by a detailed building plan with illustrated building instructions.
now also available with German building instructions
